Group Rides

PostMods Scooter Club is very happy to welcome absolute beginners on our group rides, as well as seasoned expert riders with many many years of scooter riding under their belts. We feel that this is a great way to become accustomed to your scooter and learn safe riding techniques from experienced riders. You will also learn about our local roads and various conditions throughout the year.

PostMods has created a rating system for our rides which should help riders determine if a particular group ride is suitable for them.

The officers of PostMods will not police anyone who joins a ride, but the rider should use the descriptions below and join a ride that matches their experience and hardware.

Also note, that a particular ride may have more than one riding level – meaning that we can start a ride at a level 1 and after lunch have a level 2 or 3 return. If this happens, you can either find your way back home without the group or the group may split into two groups, with 2 different levels on a portion of the ride.

The Group ride level will be clearly designated for all rides and discussed before the ride begins.

Level 1

Ride for everyone, good for beginners – no highways or freeways.
Scooters: 50cc and above

Level 2

Advanced beginners and up – Mostly back roads and some short higher speeds roads, very little time on highways such as 12, 128, 116
Ride lengths: 60 + miles
Scooter: 125cc and above

Level 3

Intermediate riders – May include higher-speed highways such as 12, 128, 116, etc.
Ride lengths: 75 + miles
Scooter: 150cc and above

Level 4

Expert riders – longer distances may include Highway 101 and higher speed highways such as 12, 128, 116, etc.
Ride lengths: 100 + miles
Scooter: 250cc and above

PostMods Camping Excursion

This year’s camping trip will be Saturday and Sunday, September 7-8.  We’ll be coordinating a camping gear drop-off, likely to be at my home address, the week leading up to Saturday, September’s group ride north.  Folks will be able to drop off their camping gear (tent, sleeping bag, etc), clothes, kitchen ware etc beginning the Monday (9/2/24) before the group ride, and we will be transporting everyone’s gear to the campsite via van or trailer.

On Saturday, Sept 7, riders will meet up for a group breakfast somewhere in Santa Rosa around 8 am, with plans to roll out / kickstands up at 9:30 am.  The group will be riding north along Dry Creek and  West Dry Creek Roads then making our way past Lake Sonoma en route to a lunch break at Stewarts Point.  After a nice long respite from our scooters, we’ll be rolling north along HWY 1 and ending our day’s ride among Albion’s redwoods.

The destination address:

28510 Albion Ridge Road
Albion, CA 95410

Dinner, snacks, and the next morning’s breakfast will all be included in the camping fee each member pays for the weekend’s events and will include transport of your gear to and from the camping site.  Reservations will be available to members as early as mid-July, and if there are any of the 25 slots remaining by mid-August, non-members will have the chance to RSVP for the event.  Put this one on your calendar, this will be a great event not to be missed!

Summer is officially upon us, and with that comes prime riding season.  This July 7th, we’re giving our Field Marshal J.J. Stenerson the month off and dusting off one of the PostMods Scooter Club’s most popular routes, this year with a fun twist.

Since the club’s inception in 2015, winding our way through Muir Woods has been an annual crowd-pleaser, and our July ride promises to deliver on that in spades.

PostMods Group Ride

Hello, fellow scooterists!

The month's PostMods ride explores the beauty of Southwest Sonoma County and Point Reyes!

When:
Arrive 10-10:30 am Sunday, June 2nd

Meeting Spot:
We will all Meet at Lombardi's | Gourmet Deli & BBQ (www.lombardisbbq.com) - 3413 Petaluma Blvd N, Petaluma, CA., where everyone "can" stock up on goodies. Feel free to bring your own food for the picnic. There is no requirement to buy food from Lombardi's.

Arrive at the parking lot and have your food buying done no later than 10:45 for our pre-ride meeting and safety briefing, with kickstands up at 11 am sharp.

Destination:
Our ultimate destination will be Pierce Point on Point Reyes. Bring a blanket or something to sit on. We do not know if they have picnic tables.

Imagine what ranch life was like as you walk through the ranch complex, where interpretive signs describe the history and function of the various buildings. Historic features include the main house, a schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop, barns, dairy houses, and many other structures. Please note: The main house currently serves as a residence for park employees. Please respect the privacy of the residents.

-----

This is the official end of the ride. Riders can break into groups to return home or go on an extended ride.

To get back to Petaluma - return on pierce point rd (east),  Left on Sir Francis Drake Blvd, Left on CA-1, and Right on Point Reyes-Petaluma Rd which turns into D street and takes you into Petaluma.

Level 2 Ride:
This ride is for the intermediate to advanced rider. We recommend scooters 150ccs and up. While we will not be on HWY 101, there are several roads where the speed can be at or exceed 55. Level 2 rides are generally longer as well. This particular ride will be 101miles round trip to/from Lombardi's.

Arrive fueled up, tires checked, and ready to go.

Cost:
Free for current PostMods Members
$10 for non-current members.
See below for ways to join or renew membership

Emergency Contact:
Starting on this ride, and for group rides moving forward, we are asking that all riders include, in their RSVP, an emergency contact. We will gather this info and bring it with us on the ride.

We are looking forward to seeing you all on the 2nd!
